You’ve heard over and over again how important a website is to a business. And you’ve probably heard that competitors’ businesses are booming because of their website. But for you, it’s the opposite. You have a site, but nothing’s happening. A few people are visiting, but no one is buying. It’s lifeless.
Frustrating, right?
This is a problem many small businesses find themselves in. A problem, that’s often caused by these four reasons…
No testimonials – Testimonials are like trophies. You should have them on show all the time. They show that your business is good at what it does and gives potential customers peace of mind that you’ll provide them with a quality product or service.
So don’t leave testimonials off your site.
They really are great influencers. So great in fact, that they can push people into purchasing even if the rest of the site is awful.
Outdated info – Would you buy from a business that doesn’t look like it’s been active since 2003? No, and your customers won’t either.
Ensure that you regularly update your site. That means that if you have a blog, post news and information at least once a week; update imagery and your web design once every year; and ensure that all the content on your website is up to date. Don’t leave discount offers that are months old up there.
Autoplay – By this, we mean that the minute a customer clicks on a site, some sort of audio kicks in. It isn’t welcome and you should never force a customer to listen to something.
Imagine they’re browsing looking to buy. They have headphones plugged in and they’re listening to their favourite music. Then they hit your site and there’s a blare of audio; a voice trying to cram a discount down their throat. They aren’t going to turn their music off. They’re going to close your site down.
It’s slow – Web users are an impatient bunch. Especially when shopping. They want to be able to breeze through your website without a hiccup and buy the item they’re after. They don’t want to sit around and wait for pages to load. So make sure your site runs quick enough.
These are the most common reasons that websites fail. So don’t let yours let your business down.
